Los Angeles Photography - Modern Weddings & Lifestyle Editorials

I live in Los Angeles most of the time but with a house in Washington DC, you’ll find me photographing weddings on both coasts, in between and abroad. As a recent bride myself, I know you probably have lots of questions so if you don’t find the answer here, please email me or call so that we can chat. And if you’re a little bit quirky in your style, please visit my wedding blog, http://theunbride.net for more wedding imagery and inspiration.

How would you classify your style of photography?

This is always a good one. I actually try not to classify myself into any specific genre of wedding photography…traditional, photojournalist, fashion etc. The truth is that I photograph every wedding a little bit differently, in a way that helps to convey the look and feel of the day. But if you look through my portfolio you should notice a consistent overall style which is what you can expect. I can tell you that making my clients look great is a top priority for me so lighting, angles and lens choices are always made with that in mind. I love clean, crisp images with a lot of life to them. I tend to lean towards storytelling imagery, pictures that you can sink your teeth into and stare at for a while. I like images that are simple or complex, or both at the same time. But I also enjoy some directed portraiture. I want all of my family portraits to look natural and fun and I always enjoy the opportunity to shoot some fun editorial style portraits of just the bride and groom together. I like to use the personality of each client as my guide and I won’t make you look ridiculous doing things that just don’t suit your style.

How long have you been photographing weddings?

2009 is my 7th full-time year in this business although I started out assisting my mother in the mid-90’s when she was a top wedding photographer in the DC area. When it comes to shooting weddings, I have pretty much seen it all and have photographed all kinds of weddings all over the place. In working with an experienced wedding photographer, you will ensure that they can handle any situation and any lighting conditions that come up, including the unexpected.

Will you be the one shooting our wedding?

If you book me to photograph your wedding, I will personally be your wedding photographer. I do bring an assistant and/ or 2nd shooter along with me but I will be the one who will interact with you and your family and “run the show”.

How many weddings do you shoot per year?

As a boutique studio, I limit myself to no more than 20 weddings per year. This way, I look forward to each and every event and have enough time to give for plenty of personal attention to each of my wedding clients. Once I have booked 20 dates, my calendar is full.

What are your rates?

Please email me and we’ll discuss all of your options.

What types of albums do you offer?

I offer matted, magazine-style and duo (a combination of the two) albums from the highest quality manufacturers in the world. I believe in clean design which is done in-house by me or under my direct supervision. It’s important to me that your album is both modern and classic so that you’ll be excited to show it to your friends now and so that you won’t be embarrassed to show your children and grandchildren in the future.

Do we need to feed you at our wedding?

Yes please.

How soon should we book you?

If you believe that we are meant for each other, try to book as soon as possible. For popular dates I often book a year or more in advance but 8-12 months before your date is usually about perfect.

We love your work, what is the next step?

If you live in the LA area, the next step is to schedule a meeting with me so that we can get to know each other a little better. If you’re not in the area don’t fret because over half of my clients book without an in-person meeting. Some are comfortable communicating entirely by email and others prefer a phone call. In order to reserve your date, I just need a signed contract and retainer from you.
