After spending a week in Haiti and then flying directly to Vegas for this year’s WPPI convention & trade show, I have about a million things on my mind and many things to blog about. Haiti was a truly life-changing experience and I look forward to sharing images and stories when I am ready. For now I’m still mentally and emotionally processing everything that I’ve been through. So I figured I’d jump back in with something easy and just share some exciting news.
With some 3000 prints submitted for this year’s print competition, I was thrilled to be awarded 3rd place in the Bride & Groom Together category for this image of Emily and Andrew. Yay! It was beautifully printed by master printmaker, Jonathan Penney.

Although I attended few classes this year, I enjoyed seeing so many familiar faces, catching up with old friends and making some new ones. I very much look forward to next year. Perhaps I will even submit to teach a Master Class. If you are a photographer, what would you like to hear me speak about? Any comments and suggestions would be greatly helpful and appreciated.
Thank you!

What a whirlwind it’s been lately! Last week I traveled to Phoenix for the DWF convention (digital wedding forum) convention which was held in conjunction with the Imaging USA trade show. I was actually one of the speakers at the convention this year and what an experience that was. It was quite nerve-wracking but I survived with the wonderful support of my peers and an awesome team of “helpers”….thank you to Ellen, Jenni and Nicole for getting me through it all. Here are a few pictures…

My presentation was all about how to run a successful portrait photography business with a focus on how to use projection proofing to help your clients every step of the way to make the right decisions regarding their portraits. I also teach a 2-day workshop about this with my mother, Diana Adams and we have some workshops coming up:
March 24-25 in Washington DC
April 28-29 in Los Angeles
If you are a photographer and would like to attend one of our workshops, please visit The Modern Portrait.

I know, I know, I’ve been MIA again. I’ve just been soooo busy but that’s a good thing. Just had a wonderful visit from my mother and sister who came into town from DC for the 2nd edition of The Modern Portrait Seminar. We truly had an amazing group of photographers and although we had a last minute location change, everything went great. It was a pleasant surprise today when I received an email from one of my wonderful DC clients, Vanessa saying that she saw me on the Shootsac blog.

I finally got to meet the incredibly fabulous Shootsac creator, Jessica Claire at DWF in Tampa and Shootsac business partner Keats Elliot was one of our seminar participants. Thanks ladies for outing my baroque obsession. :)
